Former NBA player Marcin Gortat, who now serves as an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards, reflected on the time playing under Doc Rivers with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 2018-19 season when Gortat played for the Clippers was also his last year as a player before retiring. The Polish center was waived by the Clippers in February, 2019 despite starting in 43 of 47 games that year.

While acknowledging Rivers as a good person, Gortat was very clear that he has no confidence in his coaching decisions.

“I didn’t have the best time with Doc Rivers, unfortunately,” Gortat said candidly to Cyro Asseo de Choch of HoopsHype. “He’s a good dude and great to talk to with incredible stories and a rich history in the NBA. However, I wouldn’t trust his coaching decisions. I just don’t have confidence in them.”

After guiding the Celtics to the championship in 2008, Rivers struggled to reach the same heights with the Clippers and 76ers.

Currently Rivers serves as an analyst for ESPN after being fired by the Sixers.
