The Miami Heat are actively looking into potential trade options for Kyle Lowry, a seasoned guard. In their pursuit to enhance the team’s roster, Miami uses Lowry’s expiring contract, valued at $29.7 million, as a bargaining chip.

In light of Lowry’s performance decline this season, the Heat recently decided to relegate him to the bench. Although Lowry expressed understanding of the move, he conveyed his disappointment with the decision.

“For me as a professional, of course I’m disappointed to have to adjust,” Lowry said. “But I haven’t played well in the last couple weeks, and I understand that coach has made a decision to try to move and shake some things and get in a different flow.

“So, as a professional, of course it’s an adjustment. But I have to make it and figure out how to help the team win.”

Erik Spoelstra clarified that the decision to make changes, including moving Kyle Lowry to the bench, did not reflect Lowry’s performance or Miami’s recent struggles on the court.

According to Spoelstra, the motive behind the move was simply a strategic decision to experiment with a different approach at this point.

“We are not where we want to be,” Spoelstra said. “That’s not an indictment on one player. Kyle has been great as a starter and really impactful last year off the bench. So this really isn’t about him.

“This is about us trying to get to a higher level on both ends of the court, but also offensively. Combinations do matter, rotations do matter, lineups that bring out the best in each other do matter. And I’m still in the process of trying to help the team figure that out.”
