The New York Knicks express interest in acquiring Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, but obstacles arise due to Murray’s agent, Rich Paul, according to a recent report.

Ian Begley of SportsNet New York outlines the challenge: “The Knicks can put together a substantial package for Dejounte Murray, but the potential trade faces an additional hurdle. Murray is represented by Rich Paul and Klutch Sports Group, who have shown reluctance to engage in business with the Knicks in the past.”

This hesitancy dates back to a reported opposition from Klutch to a trade involving Zach LaVine to the Knicks in 2022, a dynamic that persists today.

Despite the apparent standoff, there is a potential resolution on the horizon. Sources suggest that Klutch Sports would reconsider their stance if an in-person meeting occurs between Paul and the Knicks’ leadership, including team president Leon Rose and executive vice president William Wesley, both formerly top agents at CAA.

Until such a meeting takes place, the Klutch-Knicks Cold War is expected to endure, presenting a significant challenge to potential trades involving clients represented by Rich Paul.
