Trae Young dropped a season-high 45 points, leading the Atlanta Hawks (9-9) to a thrilling 137-135 victory over the struggling San Antonio Spurs (3-15) on Thursday night.

Atlanta faced stiff competition from Jeremy Sochan’s 33-point effort and Victor Wembanyama’s 21 points, but Young’s defensive stop against Sochan with 2.7 seconds left secured the win for the Hawks, ending their two-game skid and handing the Spurs their 13th consecutive loss.

Dejounte Murray, facing his former team, contributed significantly with 24 points and five steals for the Hawks, while Bogdan Bogdanovic added 14 points.

Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson led the Spurs’ efforts with 25 and 22 points, respectively.

Wembanyama showcased his skills with an impactful 21-point, 12-rebound, and four-block performance for the Spurs.
