Milwaukee Bucks guard Malik Beasley is navigating a shift in his role, stepping into unfamiliar territory.
Historically not recognized for his defensive prowess, the 6’4″ Beasley is embracing the challenge of becoming a more physical presence on that end of the court.
Frequently finding himself matched up against top perimeter players, he is determined to carve out a new identity in Milwaukee.
“Usually I’m one of the offensive guys, but we got four those guys,” Beasley said. “So I just learn how to be physical.
“It’s a mindset. … If you notice, I start the game usually with one or two fouls to set the tone so that in the third or fourth quarter I can get away with it.”
In his inaugural season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Beasley is posting averages of 9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals.
Notably, he boasts a career shooting average of 37.9% from beyond the arc, and this season, he’s hitting a career-high 42.5% of his three-point attempts.
It’s worth mentioning that Beasley secured a minimum contract to join the Bucks during the offseason.
