As the Lakers prepare to face the Rockets in Houston, all eyes are on the individual battle between LeBron James and Dillon Brooks, who had heated exchanges during the last season’s playoffs.

Brooks, known for his reputation as a villain and his fiery trash-talking, secured a significant 4-year, $86 million contract with the Rockets during the summer.

When asked about Brooks’ new contract ahead of the game, James expressed his belief that it was well-deserved.

“Every player that is awarded a contract is awarded for a reason. They’re worthy of the contract they get,” said the four-time NBA champion.

“I think in his case, he was worthy of the contract that he got. He’s put in the work since he came out of Oregon. That’s what Houston felt value in him, and he’s here.”

Regarding the previous clashes with Brooks during the playoffs, LeBron downplayed it, focusing on the competition ahead.

“Not too much,” James said. “I think just the competition alone, that’s always great to go out and compete. He’s one of those guys who loves to compete, along with a lot of other guys in our league. I don’t really dwell on the past too much. I think you know me over the years. I kind of leave that in the past and find a way to get our first road win. That’s what my mindset is for sure.”

For his part, Brooks said he will lock James up in this game and will make the fourth quarter come sooner for the Lakers superstar.
