LeBron James, whose Los Angeles Lakers played against the Miami Heat on Monday, spoke extensively about his time with the Heat.

James suggested that there was a singular purpose behind his decision to leave his hometown team and join the Miami Heat, as reported by Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.

“I came here for one reason and for one reason only, to win championships. That was my only goal,” James said. “That’s the only reason that I teamed up with (Dwyane Wade) and (Chris) Bosh.

“Because I felt like I couldn’t do it in Cleveland. So I had an opportunity to be a free agent, I did what I thought was best not only for my career but for me at that point in time.”
