In a recent interview, young Minnesota Timberwolves sensation Anthony Edwards was asked to unveil his all-time top five NBA players.
Edwards’ elite list featured iconic figures such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, and his personal favorite, Kevin Durant. Notably, LeBron James was conspicuously absent from the coveted spots.
“All-Time? MJ, Kobe, Shaq, that’s three, Allen Iverson and of course KD for me,” Edwards said.
When quizzed about his selection, the 22-year-old sharpshooter elaborated on his preference for Durant.
Edwards commended Durant’s unwavering passion for the game, drawing parallels to his own outlook. He emphasized Durant’s carefree approach to basketball, stressing that he approaches the game with a simple mindset.
“He just loves the game, it reminds me of myself,” the former No. 1 draft pick said. “He just don’t care, he’s just gonna go out there. He treats the game like the ball can do two things – is you gonna make the shot or you gonna miss the shot.
“And most people put too much into it like you see you gonna make it or you gonna miss it, just shoot it the same way every time. And that’s pretty much why I love KD.”
Although LeBron James, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history, didn’t make Edwards’ all-time top five, the Timberwolves’ young star’s unique perspective and admiration for Kevin Durant offer insight into the diverse array of influences that shape the preferences of today’s emerging basketball talents.
