Daryl Morey, the president of basketball operations for the 76ers, remains hopeful that his strained relationship with former Rockets and 76ers star James Harden can be repaired, despite recent public statements from Harden expressing his discontent.

Having enjoyed a close bond since Harden’s trade to the Rockets in 2012 and subsequently to the 76ers in 2022, the fallout over contract negotiations led to Harden’s recent trade to the Clippers, accompanied by publicly expressed animosity toward Morey.

Addressing the situation in a recent press conference, Morey expressed his optimism for reconciliation.

“I think time heals,” he said. “He’s a great player. He’s going to do great things for the Clippers. PJ Tucker as well. I’m glad they’re in the West. We wish him well… I think that this will just be a blip and something we won’t remember when we’re at James’ Hall of Fame induction someday.”

Morey acknowledged the differing approaches and perspectives that might have contributed to the rift.

As Harden embarks on a new chapter with the Clippers, Morey’s comments signal a willingness to move forward positively, emphasizing the significance of the shared history and accomplishments between the executive and the renowned basketball star.
