The Philadelphia 76ers find themselves in a state of uncertainty as their star player, James Harden, remains absent from the team, reportedly due to personal reasons.
According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the organization has acknowledged Harden’s explanation of dealing with a family matter, yet his extended absence raises questions about his return.
“It is unclear when and if James Harden plans to return to Philadelphia,” Wojnarowski stated. He further added that the Sixers have the option to start fining Harden up to $390,000 per game for each missed game, as it is within their rights to seek more clarity and a definitive timetable for his return.
Despite Harden’s desire for a trade to the Clippers, negotiations have not progressed, leaving the 76ers in a complex situation as they approach the season.
The 76ers’ management remains hopeful for a resolution that aligns with the team’s goals while respecting Harden’s personal circumstances.
“The Sixers want James Harden in the lineup. They want him to play,” Wojnarowski said. “He has wanted a trade, he continues to want a trade, talks with the Clippers have not progressed, there’s not been any traction or anything close on a possible deal.”
