Contrary to Tony Parker’s statement over the weekend, indicating that Gordon Herbert would take over ASVEL’s bench on Monday, the Canadian-Finnish head coach will not be making the move to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
In an interview with Kicker, the 64-year-old coach revealed that the German basketball federation is not allowing him to coach the French club while maintaining his position at the helm of Germany.
“I discussed with the DBB the possibility of coaching ASVEL and remaining the national coach at the same time. The DBB did not support the idea. I accept that. I would never do it without the association’s approval and support,” Herbert said.
