Terry Stotts, the seasoned NBA coach who recently took on the role of assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks under rookie head coach Adrian Griffin, has made a surprising decision just days before the commencement of the 2023-24 NBA season.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news, tweeting, “Terry Stotts has stepped down as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell ESPN.”

Stotts, who returned to the coaching scene after a two-year hiatus to join Griffin’s new staff, has opted not to continue in his current role.

This move comes after Stotts’ nine-year stint as the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, during which he led the team to eight consecutive postseason appearances. Stotts left the Trail Blazers in 2021, opening the door to his new position with the Bucks.

Interestingly, Stotts was already a familiar face to star point guard Damian Lillard, who was recently traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.

However, due to Stotts’ decision to step down, it appears that the two won’t have the opportunity to work together in their new roles.
