Terry Stotts is finalizing a contract to become an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks, joining Adrian Griffin’s staff (h/t Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN).
Stotts was already reported as a candidate to watch who may be tapped as an assistant for Griffin as the Bucks are looking to surround the neophyte coach with a veteran presence around him.
Stotts, known for his offensive acumen in the game, previously held the head coaching mantle of the Portland Trail Blazers from 2012 to 2021. Together with Damian Lillard, they led the franchise to eight-straight seasons of playoff appearances including a trip to the Conference Finals.
As such, he holds a familiarity in Milwaukee as he served as their head coach from 2005 to 2007, compiling a 63-83 regular season record. Prior to that, he was also an assistant by hall of fame coach George Karl for four seasons within the team.
Throughout his coaching career, Totts was a notable assistant. He was within the Seattle Supersonics’ staff (1994-1998) and the Dallas Mavericks (2008-2012), winning his first NBA title back in 2011.
