Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault emphasized his team’s offensive execution after Monday’s 136-104 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Arena. “I thought our process was pretty good all night, just in terms of the sharpness of the spacing… guys did a great job of executing and we finished a lot of plays tonight,” he said.

Daigneault credited perimeter defense and help defense for limiting Donovan Mitchell’s effectiveness. “It was a Dort game with Mitchell. We matched his minutes after pretty much everything but the first quarter. He made him earn everything, but he was tuned up tonight,” he noted.

Chet Holmgren played a key role both offensively and defensively. “He impacts the final score just with his overall floor game, his defense, his screening and rolling on offense, the space he creates for us,” Daigneault said, highlighting Holmgren’s two-way impact.

The coach praised the team’s response to injuries and small-ball adjustments. “The thing I love about this team is that we see setbacks as a challenge. We played small a lot in the first half, and the guys really scrapped and fought,” he said.

Daigneault singled out contributions from Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins. “Huge minutes out of Wiggins, Isaiah Joe, not only with shot making and offense, but the way they moved the ball and defended. They stuck their nose in the fight,” he said.

The Thunder’s spacing and connectedness were key against Cleveland’s size. “The shot making made it look better, but the sharpness of the spacing is critical against a team with rim protection and size. Guys did a great job executing,” he explained.

Daigneault also emphasized the team’s championship mindset. “There’s shot-making variance, injuries, schedule, every adversity you can think of. If you treat those as a challenge rather than a threat, you get stronger, build mental toughness and connectedness as a team,” he said.

The Thunder’s composure stood out in the third quarter as Cleveland attempted to cut the lead. “Even before we won the championship, this team had great poise. The group to start the fourth quarter opened the lead back up and did a great job,” Daigneault said.

Oklahoma City improved to 36-8, continuing its run atop the Western Conference standings. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 30 points, Chet Holmgren added 28, and the Thunder tied a season high with 23 made three-pointers.
