As Damian Lillard’s desire to join the Miami Heat remains unfulfilled due to stalled negotiations between the Trail Blazers and the Heat, other teams are beginning to explore their options, despite Lillard’s clear preference for Miami.
According to journalist Kyle Neubeck, the Chicago Bulls could be the wildcard team entering the Lillard sweepstakes. The key question, however, is how the superstar would react to such a trade scenario.
“The team that I’ve heard that is kind of the wild card getting into the mix team is the Chicago Bulls,” he said on the PHLY Sixers podcast. “If/when they trade LaVine that they would wanna star-level return, you players, picks…
“What I’ve heard in the last few days is that it looks like they might be trying to move LaVine as part of a multi-team deal just to see if they can get into the Dame Lillard sweepstakes.
“Now, the big question there is obviously, even if they could pull something like that off, even if they find a suitor for LaVine who is going to flip them stuff that they can trade for Dame, what the hell is Dame Lillard gonna do if he ends up in Chicago playing with Nicky Vooch [Nikola Vucevic], no offense, and [DeMar] DeRozan, and Pat Williams, so on and so forth?”
