Zach LaVine delivered an impressive 33-point performance to lead the Chicago Bulls (18-20) to a commanding 138-105 victory over the Washington Wizards (6-30) on Friday night.
Nikola Vucevic added a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Coby White and Jalen Smith chipped in 15 points apiece. Chicago showcased its offensive depth, hitting 55.8% of its field goals and 46.9% of its three-point attempts.
LaVine set the tone early with 18 first-half points, helping the Bulls establish a 68-58 halftime lead. Midway through the third quarter, a 9-0 run, bolstered by Vucevic’s three triples, put the game out of reach. Chicago outscored Washington 40-28 in the quarter.
Jordan Poole returned for the Wizards after missing three games with a left hip contusion. He led Washington with 22 points but faded in the second half, contributing just five points after the break. Jared Butler provided some support off the bench with 18 points, but the Wizards struggled to find consistent scoring.
The Bulls capitalized on their home-court advantage and the Wizards’ defensive lapses. Chicago’s bench contributed 65 points, with Lonzo Ball adding 12 on four three-pointers, while Talen Horton-Tucker and Matas Buzelis combined for 20 points.
The Wizards, now holding the NBA’s worst record, continued to struggle defensively, allowing nine three-pointers in the third quarter alone. Kyle Kuzma, typically a reliable contributor, managed only five points on 1-for-6 shooting.
Chicago’s defense also played a significant role, limiting Washington to 39.8% shooting from the field. Josh Giddey added a well-rounded effort for the Bulls with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.
The Bulls were without Ayo Dosunmu, who missed his eighth straight game with a calf strain but is expected to return during the homestand. Despite his absence, Chicago’s balanced offense and strong shooting secured a statement victory.
For Washington, rookie Alex Sarr finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Kyshawn George contributed 12 points off the bench. However, turnovers and inconsistent shooting plagued the Wizards throughout the game.
