Courtesy of a red-hit shooting, Serbia stamps its ticket to the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Finals by torching Canada, 95-86, at their semifinal round on Friday, Sept. 8, within Pasay City’s Mall of Asia Arena.
The Eagles were on fire at the offense, shooting a scorching 65 percent mark from the field with 45 percent at the three-point line.
Five players are within the double-digit scoring board for Serbia, with Bogdan Bogdanovic at the front due to his 23 points, four boards, and three triples. Nikola Milutinov contributed his 16-point, 10-board double-double.
Serbia will make it to the World Cup Finals for the first time since 2014. They’ll wait on who will emerge in the United State-Germany Semis to determine their title-round opponent.
RJ Barrett’s 23 points powered Canada as both Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks struggled due to foul troubles.
Nevertheless, Canada still has a chance for a bronze medal finish on Sunday.
