In a captivating showdown at the Indonesia Arena during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, Brazil achieved an impressive outcome by defeating Canada with a final score of 69-65.

Yago Santos played a pivotal role in the fourth quarter, sealing Brazil’s victory in the Second Round and paving the way for an exhilarating Group L finale scheduled for Sunday.

This triumph solidified Brazil’s dominance over Canada in the FIBA Basketball World Cup, marking their sixth consecutive victory over their Canadian counterparts, with the last one dating back to 1978.

“Give a lot of credit to Brazil for the win,” said Jordi Fernandez, Canada’s head coach. “They played really hard. Defensively, I thought we were fine.

“We had a chance, but offensively we were not willing to do anything for each other like space the floor, move the ball, move bodies. When you play like that, it’s really hard to win.

“Today was an example – 10 assists to 9 turnovers, shot 33 from the field and 27 from three. We did not deserve to win. This is adversity for us. We haven’t faced anything like this, but I believe in our guys. We will prepare for Spain, and we will be ready for the next one.”
