Latvia’s journey in the FIBA World Cup has taken an unexpected turn as they lose their national team captain, Dairis Bertans, to a hamstring injury.

This setback leaves the Latvian squad without one of their key players, adding to the challenge of competing on the world stage.

In their previous matches, Latvia displayed their resilience, securing a surprising victory over France, despite missing their star Kristaps Porzingis.

Bertans, the 33-year-old shooting guard from VEF Riga averaged 14 points and 2 assists during the two World Cup games. His injury means that he will not be able to continue representing his nation in the tournament.
