Dominique Wilkins, a nine-time NBA All-Star and esteemed member of the Hall of Fame, recently had a conversation with VladTV.

They delved into his life story, tracing his path from a challenging upbringing to achieving superstardom in the world of basketball. Wilkins was born in France on a military base near Paris.

His early years were spent in Paris, but he later moved to Baltimore, a city known for its reputation as one of the most perilous in the United States.

“Baltimore, when I was there, they had the highest crime rate in America,” Wilkins said, via Basketball Network. “I mean, it was a bad place.

“Growing up in the projects of O’Donnell Heights and Westport, they shooting the movie ‘The Wire’, a lot of that’s filmed from where I grew up. Don’t even tell the full truth of all the stuff that goes on in Baltimore.”

Despite facing these daunting circumstances, a local legendary figure known as Big Harold introduced him to the game of basketball when he was 12 years old.

Recognizing Wilkins’ potential, Harold guided him, and eventually, Wilkins lived up to the potential he displayed.
