New Orleans Pelicans big man Jonas Valanciunas dominated the paint with 21 points and 16 rebounds, leading Lithuania to an 84-80 victory over Finland in a sold-out Klaipeda arena. This exhibition match was a chance for Lithuania to avenge their loss to Finland in Tampere.
Despite the Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen’s impressive 32 points and 11 rebounds, including 5 three-pointers, Finland couldn’t catch up. They came close, narrowing the gap to 82-80 with four seconds left, but Ignas Brazdeikis’ free throws sealed the win for the home team.
