Lakers’ head coach Darvin Ham recently shared his optimistic outlook on the team’s potential championship run while addressing the Basketball without Borders camp in South Africa.

Ham’s confidence in the Lakers’ readiness to contend for the title is grounded in the leadership of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, coupled with a blend of returning and new talent.

“Absolutely [I think we’re close to a championship team],” stated Ham, per Leonard Solms @ ESPN. He highlighted the return of players like Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, and D’Angelo Russell, and the additions of Gabe Vincent, Taurean Prince, Cam Reddish, and Jaxson Hayes.

Ham also emphasized the team’s enhanced depth, skill, size, and athleticism, all of which he believes will coalesce into a winning formula.

Taking the reins of the Lakers last summer, Ham steered the team through a season of challenges, leading them to the Western Conference Finals despite a rough start. Their journey culminated in a valiant effort against the eventual champions, the Nuggets.
