Patrick Beverley, who recently joined the 76ers, has shared his belief that the Clippers had what it took to win the NBA championship in 2020 if not for the unprecedented circumstances of the bubble.

The 35-year-old’s tweet came in response to a nostalgic post by NBA Memes featuring a photo of the Clippers’ lineup with the caption, “We really thought that this lineup was winning it all.” Beverley responded with, “We was until bubble hit.”

Looking back at the 2019-20 NBA season, the Clippers were considered strong title contenders with a star-studded roster featuring Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. They displayed their potential throughout the regular season, securing the second seed in the Western Conference.

However, when the league resumed in a bubble environment at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, the Clippers faced challenges and obstacles that affected their performance. Despite their talent and expectations, they were ultimately eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Nuggets.

Beverley’s confident statement is a testament to the belief and camaraderie that existed within the Clippers squad during that time. While the outcome was not as they had hoped, the team’s aspirations to compete for a championship remain a prominent part of their legacy.
