Unicaja Malaga reached a new agreement with big man German Gabriel to keep working together until the end of the 2016-17 season, the club announced Tuesday.

Gabriel (2.07 meters, 34 years old) returned to Unicaja in January, averaging 3.1 points and 2 rebounds in 7 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games. Gabriel grew up in Malaga and Unicaja was his first professional club; he made his Spanish League debut in the 1999-00 season and played there for two more years.

He returned to Malaga in the 2003-04 seasons and had a third stint with the club from 2007 to 2009. Gabriel has also played for CB Girona, Bilbao Basket and Estudiantes Madrid in Spain and for Marinos de Anzoategui in his native Venezuela. Gabriel has also been a member of the Spanish national team. He helped Spain win the U18 World Championship in 1999 and a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2013. He lifted the FIBA Eurocup trophy with Girona in 2007. Gabriel accumulated 257 points on 48.3% three-point shooting and 111 rebounds in 45 Euroleague career games.
