The Trail Blazers used their No. 43 pick to draft French prospect Rayan Rupert. This prompted a reaction from fellow Frenchman Nicolas Batum who saw similarities between himself and the 19-year-old small forward.
“A 6’8 , 19 y/o, SF, light skinned from Le Mans France drafted by Rip City…🤔 I’ve seen that before. Great pic Portland. Happy for lil bro Rayan,” Batum tweeted.
Rupert enters the league from the New Zealand Breakers of the National Basketball League.
