Lithuanian basketball champions Zalgiris Kaunas bid farewell to Achille Polonara, at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 season.
Polonara, who played a pivotal role in Zalgiris’ journey to the EuroLeague playoffs, clinching the King Mindaugas Cup, and reclaiming the LKL championship title, will not be returning to Kaunas next season. With the expiration of his contract, the Italian forward will now embark on the search for a new club.
Although his time in Kaunas was cut short due to a hamstring injury that sidelined him during the LKL finals series, Polonara made significant contributions. In the EuroLeague, he averaged 4.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 18 minutes per game. Meanwhile, in LKL he recorded 6.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 19 minutes on the court.
