Recently former NBA player Kenyon Martin made strong comments about his former coach George Karl. He did not hold back and made it very clear that he still has hard feelings towards Karl for his time in Denver.

In the wake of Martin’s interview, the Hall of Fame coach offered a reconciliation via a tweet. Now he expanded on his thoughts in an interview on FanDuel TV.

“It made me sad. It disappoints that I can get a person that angry, that disappointed in me,” Karl said. “I want to love my players. I want to care for my players. But I am also the leader and the policeman of my team.

“And my response in that game, I don’t think was out of control or unusual. I was doing something I thought I had to do for my team. I might have been wrong. When those things happen, you want to move forward, you don’t want to go backwards.

“To suspend him in that situation was very difficult for the organization. I know it was very difficult for him. I’m going to tell you I thought he was one of the brightest defensive players I’ve ever coached and I thought he’d make a hell of a coach because he’s a competitive guy.”
