Following a storied career as the cornerstone of the Boston Celtics, Bird took over as the head coach of his hometown team in Pacers. For three seasons sitting at the helm, he led Indiana to three-straight playoff appearances and a trip to the NBA Finals back in 1999-2000.

Bird stepped down in his position following his leadership to the Pacers in reaching the championship stage, but went on to be back three years later as their team president. Since then, he further established that close ties with the franchise as he also won the NBA Executive of the Year award in 2011-12 season.
