The idea of hammering a reunion with Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey is an enticing event for Nick Nurse, sources told Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Nurse, who emerged as one of the well known candidates for the 76ers’ head coaching job, got key ties with Morey as he was hired by the executive back in 2011 to become the head coach of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets. In the 2012-13 season, he went on to lead the club to its first title.

The Sixers are continuing their search for their newest bench boss since dismissing Doc Rivers. Nurse, who is known for his tactical approach, handled the Toronto Raptors for five seasons and led them to their maiden championship in his first year on the job back in 2018-19.

Nurse reportedly pulled out his name from the Milwaukee Bucks’ coaching search as Adrian Griffin, his Raps assistant, eventually took the gig. His name is also floating around the camp of Phoenix Suns as they are looking for their replacement for Monty Williams.

After three-straight years of failing to advance to the Conference Finals, the Sixers are in a win-now approach with an important offseason set to welcome them which centers around the potential free agency status of James Harden.
