The Celtics lost against the Wizards 111-130 in a game that was wide open in the fourth quarter.

Boston was trailing by 22 points with 9 minutes left to play in the fourth quarter, that is when Joe Mazzulla decided to pull his starters out of the game instead of trying to fight back.

Jayson Tatum, who led the Celtics in scoring with 28 points, was asked about Mazzulla’s decision.

“You got to be honest with yourself,” Tatum said. “We weren’t playing well. It was one of those nights. You gotta take it on the chin.”

Despite the loss, Boston remained in the second place in the Eastern Conference.
