Worcester Wolves have completed the signing of 6’9″ powerhouse Perris Blackwell.

Blackwell is the third new signing to be confirmed by the club this summer, as Head Coach Paul James’ squad begins to take shape.

Of his move, Blackwell says: “I’m really excited and looking forward to joining this team and having a chance to compete for a championship.

“I am thankful for or the opportunity to play for this club and can’t wait to get after it. I’m ready to get over and get to work.”

Blackwell has significant playing experience at elite college level in the United States, where he attended the University of Florida from 2009-2012. Here, he recorded some impressive statistics, averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds per game in his final season.

In 2012, he transferred to the University of Washington where he once again put up some impressive numbers, averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds per game in his final year.

Last season saw Blackwell begin his professional career, playing in Chile for Osorno, where he averaged an impressive 20 points and 12 rebounds per game.

Paul James, who has also recruited Javier Mugica and Malik Smith so far this summer, says: “I’m delighted with the signing of Perris Blackwell. He is a true big man with a really good skill set for his size.

“He is a smart player who has come through some good basketball programmes, which will stand him in good stead for the Wolves.

“I think he will contribute in a very positive way and will draw a lot a lot of attention.”

The Wolves will play their first BBL home game on the 18th September against the Glasgow Rocks at the University of Worcester Arena.
