With 7 minutes left to play in the second quarter, the Lakers were down by 27 points against the Mavericks (19-48), but managed to make a comeback and win the game (111-108).

After the game Lakers head coach Darvin Ham talked about his team’s effort and refusal to give despite having a huge deficit.

“It’s huge, man,” he said. “That was a huge shot in the arm the way that we were able to scratch, claw, fight and compete. It was some tough depressive moments in that first half as they were building their lead, but the big thing we kept stretching.

“We can’t stop competing, we can’t stop defending, continue to try to hold them to one possession when we can and get it and play fast, play fast, play downhill. The guys never got discouraged.

“They had that look of frustration, but it wasn’t a look of defeatedness on their faces. Everybody just wanted to stay encouraged. May staff, they’re awesome. Just bringing the positive energy, clapping it up for the guys in the midst of chaos. We got the lead 14 going to the half time and then had a huge defensive third quarter. I thought that set the tone for the rest of the game.”
