The Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum was interviewed after the Boston Celtics defeated the Charlotte Hornets 127-116 in their first game after the trade deadline.

The Celtics were without three starters, with Jaylen Brown recently sidelined with a maxillary facial fracture.

Derrick White dropped a career-high 33 points on 8-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc. Terry Rozier led Charlotte with 27 points.

“You understand in the course of a game leads are never safe, regardless of a team’s record they’re always capable of making plays and knocking down shots,” Tatum said, via ESPN. “I seen earlier (president of basketball operations) Brad (Stevens) told you guys he was making me sit out next week. So I’ll get some rest then.”
