The Suns made a blockbuster trade as they acquired Kevin Durant from the Nets. Former NBA star Steve Smith thinks that the addition of the two-time NBA champion makes Phoenix a very dangerous team in the West.

KD joined the likes of Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton who have managed to reach the finals in 2021 by themselves.

“When you start comparing with what you can do now with Chris Paul’s age and what they’ve done when they got to the Finals and couldn’t get over the hump,” Smith said. “You bring in Kevin Durant, you start to think right now everything healthy and they can add some more pieces, there’s going to be some things they also do to be able to add more players.

“This team is very dangerous in the Western Conference. And I think for all the other teams in the Western Conference you look at it right now, they’re saying ‘Wow! What can we do right now?’ because it knocks a lot of teams down 2 or 3 block spots.”

Phoenix is currently fifth in the Western Conference with 30 wins and 26 losses. The Suns are 8.5 games back behind the first-placed Grizzlies.
