Turkey have qualified for the final round of Eurobasket Women thanks to a 66-56 win over France in Debrecen, who despite the loss are also through thanks to results going their way.

It was close, but France did lead for the majority. The two teams though couldn’t be separated and were deadlocked at 44-44 after three quarters until the Turks broke the lock in the final five minutes and pulled away for the win.

Lara Sanders pace Turkey with 23 points.

They might have been without star player Jelena Dubljevic but Montenegro defeated Belarus 77-72 as the first round dominance from the Belorussians seems a long way off now.

In Dubljevic’s absence, Melica Jovanovic stepped up to lead the Montenegrins with 20 points.

Belarus, one of the favourites leading in now needs to win their final second round game against France to qualify.

In a win or go home game, Greece stayed alive by beating Czech Republic 74-71.

Keeping their cool from the foul line, Greece were good value for their win but had to survive a last ditch three-point attempt from Czech Republic’s Veronika Bortelova to start celebrating their important victory.

Zoi Dimitrakou led Greece with 20 points.
