Fred VanVleet is about to enter the final year of his contract with the Raptors – if he uses the player option in summer.
In case it becomes apparent that VanVleet, who became an All-Star for the first time in his career last season, will not stay with the team, Toronto will be inclined to trade him before the trade deadline.
According to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, the Lakers are among eight teams that are interested in the player. The other teams thought to have interest in the 28-year-old shooting guard are the Heat, Clippers, Timberwolves, Mavericks, Suns, Wizards and Magic.
This season VanVleet is averaging 19.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 36.7 minutes per game.
