With a new owner in town, the Phoenix Suns are ready to take the road to be much more competitive.

Following Mat Ishbia’s attendance to his first Suns game on a Thursday win over the Brooklyn Nets, the franchise has notified teams that they are willing to offload a first-round pick for a trade in order to improve (h/t Shams Charania of The Athletic).

Moreover, the Suns also made it known that they are ready to take on salary ahead of the trade deadline as part of their development process.

This keynote by the franchise around league circles marks the initial stage of Ishbia’s own duties to the team, with Suns appearing to spend and let go of their future assets for the benefit of their current state.

Future trades can only be beneficial for Phoenix. Upon the lengthy absence of Devin Booker and wingman Cam Johnson, the club eroded from the West standings and is now 11th with a 22-24 card.

With the trade deadline looming, the Suns are certainly eager to entertain wisely in order to revive their status as one of the title contenders within their wild Conference.
