Several executives believe that Nate McMillan won’t retain his head coaching position in the Atlanta Hawks following this season, per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

In talking with several NBA executives about the Atlanta Hawks, there’s a prevailing prediction from outside the organization – coach Nate McMillan won’t be with the team beyond this season.

Amid helping them to reach the Conference Finals stage last 2021 while acquiring the rights of Dejounte Murray from last offseason, rumors from various sources suggest that McMillan reportedly has a strained relationship with the Hawks – most especially with Trae Young.

McMillan’s job security this season was put into question based on the Hawks’ underperforming so far with both Young and Murray. To add, his rumored close resignation from the team also added fuel to the raging fire of his marred tenure within the team.

As such, it is yet to be seen what will happen next for both sides. Should Atlanta fail to deliver from the expectations they gathered prior to this season, chances are high that a necessary move on their interior will take place.
