Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks kept their winning fire burning, outbursting the Houston Rockets, 111-106, within the Toyota Center this Monday.

After their sluggish start this season, Doncic and the co. are now boasting a seven-game win streak, the longest skid that a Mavs team had since the 2010-11 campaign.

Their winning ways now contribute to their 22-16 record, the fourth-best record so far in the wild Western Conference.

Doncic had his usual spectacular ways, dropping 39 points, 12 boards, and eight assists to propel the Mavericks to the road victory.

Doncic admitted that he had a rough first half and made it known to himself to make a great response.

“Winning is always great,” Doncic said, via Eddie Sefko of Mavs.com. “To win seven in a row is pretty good. I think today we played very bad. But great teams come back and win games.

“I was nowhere in the first half. I just wanted to be more aggressive and that’s what I did in the second half. In the first half I was really passive.”

Christian Wood and Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in 21 markers independently, helping the Slovenian phenom down the stretch against the young Rockets team, overcoming an 18-point lead from the third salvo (69-51).

“The fact that we stayed together (was big),” Wood said. “I don’t know how much we were down by. I think it was 18 points at one point. But we didn’t get down on each other.

“We knew we were bad defensively (in the first three quarters) and every single person wanted to pick it up and I think we did that.”

The Mavericks will fly back home to Dallas and will take a two-day rest in preparation for a marquee showdown with the current league’s best Boston Celtics this Thursday.
