Interim coach Joe Mazzulla is set to be summoned on the Boston Celtics sidelines this Sunday against the Denver Nuggets after missing two-straight games, per Jay King of The Athletic.

Mazzulla missed the Celtics’ last two games due to corneal abrasions, a complication he sustained after taking a hit in his face during a pick-up game.

Without Mazzulla, Damon Stoudamire took the drawing board and led the Cs to a 2-0 record on the given stretch, impressively beating the Houston Rockets (126-102) on Tuesday and the L.A. Clippers (116-110) last Thursday.

Mazzulla’s return can’t even be more timely with Boston taking a lengthy four-game road trip starting this Sunday by facing the reigning back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver squad that holds the best record in the West so far with 23-12.

The young mentor is fulfilling tremendous work for the Celtics in his first year of having the team’s coaching keys, leading them to a league-best 26-10 card.
