Gary Payton II received his championship ring on his return to San Francisco for the game between the Trail Blazers and Warriors.

The 30-year-old shooting guard is yet to play a game this season and is currently reconditioning for this return to the court.

His former head coach Steve Kerr talked about Payton ahead of the game, noting his importance to last year’s Warriors team.

“I though Gary was one of the big stories from last year’s team,” Kerr said. “Had to go from a guy who bounced around the league to we release him at the end of training camp fingers crossed hoping he clears waivers and then become such a key guys for us.

“We don’t win the championship without him, I know that. Thrilled to see Gary tonight and we’ve kept in touch a little bit and I’ve always got a sweet spot for him for what he’s overcome and achieved in his career.”
