The Lakers lost their third game in a row by falling against the Hornets in a high-scoring game (134-130) at crypto.com Arena.
Lakers head coach Darvin Ham was disappointed that his team did not execute on the defensive end, giving Charlotte second or third chance opportunities to score.
“This one pisses me off a little bit because our team, our staff we constantly talking about self-inflicted wounds,” Ham said postgame. “Not protecting the paint, not holding teams to one possession after we play our tails off defensively to give up second or third opportunities to them on offensive glass.
“And once we get the ball, not being disciplined with our running habits, turning the ball over. 17 turnovers, 32 points for them. We can control that. 62 points in the paint. We can control that with our shifts and activity and being better on the ball.
“We have to do a much better job of maintaining competitiveness, closing out teams, holding them to one possession, possession by possession just holding them to one shot and when we get the ball being organized, being better organizaed.
“As a staff we’re going to work our asses off to make sure we do just that – we get better in those areas. To me that’s the story of the game.”
