Amid dominance and taking his act as the franchise cornerstone of the Philadelphia 76ers, Joel Embiid is trolling and operating on the belief that there are still Philly fans who would look into him as a trade chip, per Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports.
“I don’t know,” Embiid said, shrugging. “Sixers fans, they want to trade me.” The 28-year-old grinned wide, his breathy laugh filling the space. There’s that twinkle in Embiid’s eye when he’s ready to unwind and talk….
[Fischer]: You don’t believe that.
Embiid: “I do believe that. They want to trade me.”
Drafted by the Sixers as their lottery pick in 2014, Embiid elevated his game and health season by season, becoming the superstar the Philadelphia badly sought after recent years of mediocrity.
This season, he is averaging 33.3 points, 9.7 boards, 4.7 assists, and 1.6 blocks in a career-high 53.8 percent shooting. The big man can only hope that these new productive numbers can truly propel the Sixers towards that elusive championship.
Nothing beats the Sixers fans regarding their passion for the game. Jokes aside, with Embiid still locked for more years to come, they just need to keep the wait and optimism that the time will finally come for them after over 40 years since hoisting the title.
