An additional enforcer down low could be on the radar for the Golden State Warriors.
As told by Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, rival executives are in belief that the Warriors are prioritizing tapping a big-sized acquisition for a potential trade. Pointed out by Pincus, Indiana Pacers’ Myles Turner and Jakob Poeltl of the San Antonio Spurs are candidates to watch on the Dubs’ probable desire for a trade.
Throughout the past few seasons, Turner stands as the most consistent component of trade chatter around the league, with Indiana seeming to be operating towards focusing on their youth program. He has an expiring rookie scale extension deal, which automatically makes him more prone to rumors as the season progresses.
The same goes for Poeltl, who has an expiring contract for Gregg Popovich and the Spurs. After failing to reach an extension last offseason, murmurs suggest that he could be a trade chip for San Antonio with unrestricted free agency looming at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
With James Wiseman taking his time in G League to gain needed exposure following a season-long absence, Kevon Looney is shouldering another major responsibility of anchoring Golden State’s frontcourt. Draymond Green and JaMychal Green are taking their part, but the defending champs don’t have another sizable unit to back up Looney.
The season remains early at the moment. Though they have plenty of opponents to potentially acquire the two, the Warriors have several key assets on one end to offer.
