Here’s Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers discussing Tyrese Maxey’s last 3 games and how he can get better from the poor shooting (29.7% FG).
(via Fanatics View Hoops):
On Maxey’s struggles:
“Tyrese is really struggling. We gotta get him going. His fail-safe button right now is when he struggles, he forces it even more instead of letting the game come to him. I thought he started out the game, I thought he took 2 or 3 threes early instead of getting into the paint. The paint sets his game up, and I think everything else follows. And I think right now he’s trying to do the reverse.”
On Maxey’s last 3 games:
“We struggle in life. We all do. He’s going to as well. He’s had 3 games in a row now. He’s gotta figure it out, and we have to help him. And we’ll do that.”
Gets asked how Philly will go about helping the young guard:
“Just showing him film. Keeping him confident. The one thing he has shown is he’ll still shoot the ball. We just gotta get him back to taking the right shots. I thought he took a lot of tough ones tonight. So we just gotta get him back to taking the right shots, letting the game come, being aggressive, and letting the game come to you.”
