The Lakers are going through a tough stretch early in the season. After ten regular season games the Purple and Gold find themselves at the bottom of the Western Conference with a 2-8 record.

That, however, does not take away the optimism from the team’s new head coach Darvin Ham who sees this tough period as a necessary part for the Lakers to grow.

He went on a long monologue after being asked for his reaction to Anthony Davis expressing disappointment with the way his team has been playing.

“We beat to really good teams in Denver and New Orleans, albeit Brandon Ingram not being available for New Orleans, neither Herb Jones,” Ham said, “I will say this, man, write, quote, however.

“This may be happening now at the outset of what we’re trying to force to be a culture change in terms of getting us back to being highly competitive on a highly consistent basis, but it’s not going to always be like this. We’re going to turn a corner. I didn’t come here to lose. They didn’t bring me here to lose.

“But there is a process involved where we have to go through tough times. I want to bottle this up, I want to embrace it, I want to have it in store, so when things are turning around and we get too comfortable and we start complaining about problems that are not necessarily even problem, problems that many teams go through, I want to be able to reflect on these times.

“I don’t want anybody around me with a defeatist mentality. I don’t want anybody around me that’s not competitive, I don’t want anyone around me that’s selfish. We got to be on the same page at all times, through the good, bad and indifferent. That’s all I can say about that.

“And that’s not directed at AD. It’s human nature to feel down about different losses different circumstances that doesn’t go your way. But at the end of the day, I couldn’t afford to live without seeing the glass half full. I was raised like that with faith, with God in my life. I’ve always seen the glass half full, regardless of circumstance. And it’s damn sure not going to stop now. We’re going to push through this and we’re going to be better for it.”
