Fuenlabrada forward Andy Panko and Real Madrid big man Marcus Slaughter have more in common than we might think.

They both play in Spain, they both play more-or-less in the same position but there’s one other thing that they share, much to the embarrassment of the Liga Endesa.

They each own the exact same Equatorial Guinea passport number.

As Mundo Deportivo reports, the Spanish Federation were left incredibly red-faced and upon recognising the rare blip, contacted the authorities to confirm that there was no forgery.

Real Madrid have also reported to send all the relevant documentation about Slaughter’s passport to the consulate and the police.

Investigations are said to be ongoing.

Both teams sit at opposite ends of the league table, as Real Madrid, still nursing their hangover after winning the Euroleague title against Olympiacos last night stand proudly at the helm of the ACB, while Fuenlabrada remain rock bottom of the table with just eight wins all season.

And because of the remarkable passport error, it prevented Fuenlabrada from signing another American due to the league’s stance on imports, as only 14 registered players that have changed nationalities can play in the Liga Endesa.

Real Madrid’s KC Rivers plus Laboral Kutxa’s Mike James and Colton Iverson all own Equatorial Guinean passports.
