The Philadelphia 76ers had solid momentum potentially going on the league’s win board on Saturday, but they failed miserably at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs, who traded foundational piece Dejounte Murray last offseason, is being pegged to rebuild this new basketball year. But a win this weekend over the title-contending Sixers wasn’t very much expected. The hot hands of Keldon Johnson and Devin Vassell torched the stunned Philly home crowd, putting up a 114-105 shocker win.

At the post-game, head coach Doc Rivers didn’t hide his disappointment for starting at 0-3 in standings, as he ultimately noted that the team isn’t ready yet to gain a victory.

“We’re not ready yet,” said coach Doc Rivers. “Honestly, we’re just not. We’re not ready to win yet. You can feel that and so we got a lot of work to do. It’s almost like we played these first two games hard, competed, and then felt like ‘OK, now we can win some games’, you still gotta go out and earn the game.”

Rivers also revealed that veteran P.J. Tucker was fuming on the team’s locker room, reminding his teammates that no other team will give them an easy chance to win.

“Tuck was yelling that after the game,” Rivers added. “He’s right. No one’s just gonna give you a win. You have to go get it and you have to do it a lot every night. You can’t just pick and choose when we’re gonna show up right now and that’s what we’re doing.”

Rivers and the Sixers can only hope that their Monday clash against the Indiana Pacers can get them over the losing hump.
