Lakers head coach Darvin Ham decided start a preseason game against the Kings with Russell Westbrook on the bench. According to him, the former NBA MVP accepted his decision without any issues.
“He’s been a pro. He totally understood,” Ham said, per Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet. “He said ‘Yeah coach, whatever you need me to do.’ For him to trust us and what we’re trying to take some notes on – him being in that part of the rotation – my hat’s off to him.
The game ended with the Lakers suffering a blowout loss 133-86.
