Victor Wembanyama is making it known that he’s the top player of the upcoming NBA rookie class, but at the same time taking a mixture of a subtle jab and compliment to Scoot Henderson.

“He’s really a great player. If I was never born, I think he would deserve the first spot,” Wembanyama said of Henderson, per Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.

Both Wembanyama and Henderson are two of the prized prospects that are projected to enter the 2023 NBA Draft.

Wembanyama is much favored to be chosen as the top draft pick. Given that once in a generation mixture of length, shooting and modern day big man capabilities, the French wunderkind is a sight to behold in the basketball world.

Meanwhile, Henderson is a one heck of a talent of his own. Possessing an NBA-ready body and a nightmare to deal with due to his slashing ability, his athleticism stands off the charts and can only be greater with that sky high ceiling.

Wembanyama’s Metropolitans 92 and Henderson’s G League Ignite are slated for a pair of exhibition games on Tuesday and Thursday. As such, the NBA world will be given a sneak peak of what the two can offer once they enter in basketball’s biggest stage.
